Working with a staffing agency has many perks, and one of them is the ability to work directly with an on-site supervisor. We sat down for a Q&A with former on-site supervisor Kate Rebello to get some insight on her experience as an on-site.
An on-site supervisor is someone that balances recruiting with managing employees and maintaining client relationships. An on-site supervisor typically works directly with one client that has a large number of associates employed by the staffing agency, and they’re often considered a bridge between the staffing agency and the client.
An on-site supervisor is responsible for managing all the staffing associates at one client. Some of their daily responsibilities include things like checking in new associates on their first day, following up on absences, and answering any employee questions or concerns. On-sites are expected to build connections with both their associates and the client employees like leads, managers, and administrative staff. An on-site also spends a lot of their time on the warehouse floor so that associates can get to know them.
An on-site supervisor provides the client with a direct line of communication to the staffing agency, which allows for more clear and fluid communication between the client and the staffing agency. An on-site supervisor also makes sure that client needs can be addressed quickly and efficiently, without a lot of back-and-forth communication. Having an on-site supervisor also helps increase retention among associates, because they feel more comfortable and taken care of while they’re at work.
On-site supervisors are in charge of meeting and checking in new associates on their first day of work, which helps ease a lot of the stress and anxiety surrounding starting a new job. On-sites get to build a sense of rapport with their associates, which helps them feel more comfortable coming to work. An on-site also gives associates direct access to someone to talk to if they have questions or concerns about anything at work.
I loved building relationships with the associates and really getting to see the fruits of my labor. Being an on-site really immerses you in the culture of the client you’re working with, and I enjoyed being a part of all the client events and perks!
